To My Dear Little Bloggity-Blog,

I know, it's been awhile.  No, there's no one else.  Okay, I did have a brief affair with my iPhone Facebook app.  But that doesn't really count, does it?  I mean, you are the one who introduced us, and you even tell Facebook every time I post.  And Facebook gives me information on my friends, instead of just me droning on about me me me, everything nicole! 
But honestly, Facebook isn't the reason I've been so distant.  It's a lot of things:  we spent too much time together in November, and Christmas was a little crazy for me (I know, I know!  I'll post those pictures soon, okay? sheesh).  And then there's those two pesky little girls who require food and baths and stuff. 
But I'd like to start the new year fresh.  Can you forgive my cheating and ignoring you?  I did send you a picture on New Years Eve, after all! So let's start 2009 right.  No resolutions that were made to be broken, just some good old blogging when the moment strikes or my kids do something cute.

Someone sent me my perfume (I love it, it smells like cotton candy) for my birthday! It didn't come with a note, so I don't know who sent it.  This sounds like something my dad would do, but when I asked him he reminded me that he strongly dislikes perfume & would never encourage anyone to wear it.  When I asked Randy if it was him, he said he didn't even know I wanted that perfume (he must not be reading my blog). 
Getting presents in the mail is really neat & one of my favorite things about the mail (cue Blue's Clue's Music).  But I cannot begin to describe the mental anguish this gift has given me, because, really, WHERE DO I SEND THE THANK YOU NOTE?  So if you sent it and want to remain nameless, consider this your thank you - I love it!  If you would like to put me out of my misery so I can send you the note, come out come out where ever you are! xoxo

The Party Never Ends

So here's how my birthday bash went down.  We left for the beach Thursday afternoon.  I made sure to look cute, just in case there happened to be a birthday surprise waiting for me when we got there.  When we pulled into the campground, I kept my eyes peeled for a car I would recognize or someone who was on the lookout for the birthday girl.  Around bedtime I asked Randy, "No surprise party, huh?"  He just smiled and said no.  And I was okay with that.  My 30th birthday in a beautiful place with my sweet family. 
I woke up the next morning and decided to start the first day of my 30th year on this earth with a run.  As I ran away from the campsite, I looked everywhere for someone, anyone who would give up the surprise that wasn't a surprise.  On the way back, I thought great, they're really good at this and now they're going to surprise me all post-run sweaty.  But no one was there.  Maybe I was wrong?  Where is this surprise party I was so sure was going to happen? 
Turns out the party showed up a few hours later.  First David tumbled out of his motorhome, followed by Sarah and Kristal.  Then Becky and Renee pulled in, and Reuben and Nate arrived on their bikes a few hours later.  There was in fact, a fabulous birthday celebration, complete with Over the Hill decor and a super-yummy cake.  I have some of the most amazing friends ever.  The kind that would drive up to eight hours to spend my birthday with me.  Even though I'm the kind of friend that notoriously forgets birthdays and sends cards a month too late.  Maybe in the next thirty years I'll figure out how to be a friend like the ones I have!  xoxo

So Many Heroes, So Little Time

My dad commented about Randy needing a recliner and I have to make sure you see it:

Though it is the birth month of the Nicole (cue singing angels), I do believe we should allow for the needs of our designated Super-Heroes.
Christmas is coming too soon so maybe we could get him a comfy chair for next months celebration of other deities.

I'm not sure which part I like more, the singing angels or likening me to a deity.  I think I'll start going by that now "the Nicole."  xoxo
